EMDR
How Does EMDR Work?
When you go through a traumatic or stressful experience, your brain sometimes has difficulty processing and storing that memory properly. As a result, you might feel like you’re reliving the experience over and over, or you may experience intense emotions when reminded of it. EMDR helps your brain reprocess those memories so they’re no longer as distressing or overwhelming.
During an EMDR session, I'll ask you to focus on a specific disturbing memory or issue while guiding you through a series of side-to-side eye movements, tapping, or sounds. These movements help the brain reprocess the memory, reducing its emotional charge and making it less distressing.
How Can EMDR Help You?
Reduce emotional distress associated with traumatic memories
Ease symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression
Increase your ability to cope with stress or triggers in daily life
Strengthen emotional resilience and help you move forward from past experiences
EMDR doesn’t erase the memory but helps you view it in a less distressing way, so it no longer controls your present thoughts or emotions. It’s a structured, safe process that can offer relief even when traditional talk therapy hasn’t worked.
Welcome to a journey of healing and self-discovery through the transformative power of EMDR therapy! I understand that life's challenges can leave lasting imprints, and I also believe in the resilience of the human spirit. I use a warm and compassionate approach to guide you through the process of healing, breaking free from stuck patterns, and rediscovering a deeper sense of self.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a cutting-edge therapeutic approach that goes beyond traditional talk therapy. It's a gentle yet powerful method that helps individuals process and release the lingering effects of trauma, allowing them to move forward with newfound strength and clarity.
Imagine a safe and supportive space where you can unravel the knots of the past, fostering a profound sense of healing. I work to create an environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered. EMDR isn't just about addressing symptoms; it's about uncovering the root causes and facilitating lasting transformation.
Whether you're grappling with specific traumatic events, facing persistent challenges, or simply seeking a deeper connection with yourself, EMDR can be a key to unlocking your inner resilience. Embrace the opportunity to embark on a journey towards self-discovery, where healing becomes a natural and empowering part of your story.

I was trained by Philip Manfield who was trained by the founder of EMDR, Francine Shapiro. I am currently in the process of becoming certified, which requires additional training and consultation. My consultation and training is focused around weaving in IFS and parts work to provide a more holistic and integrative approach to EMDR.
